"I don’t want to write. I want to share ideas."
This isn’t a rejection of writing—it’s a reframing of intent. And it’s a distinction that many critics of AI-assisted creativity still overlook.
For some, writing is a sacred act of isolation—chiseling meaning from silence. A ritual of authorship. But for others—like myself—writing is merely the vessel, not the wine. The goal is not the performance of language, but the transmission of insight. I’m not here to labor over sentences—I’m here to connect. To externalize thought, to explore consciousness through expression, and to share that unfolding in real time. In that sense, AI is not a substitute—it’s an accelerant. A co-conspirator in clarity.
When I collaborate with GPT, I’m not outsourcing creativity. I’m expanding it. I’m not relinquishing my voice—I’m giving it something to echo against. The ideas are still mine. The intent is still mine. But the process becomes more fluid, less encumbered. Like sketching in midair with someone holding the paper steady. It surprises me. And that surprise, that co-evolution of thought and response, is the point.
Critics often conflate authorship with authority, as if the value of an idea depends on solitary origin. But that notion collapses under scrutiny. The history of creativity is one of dialogue, remix, influence. Shakespeare borrowed plots. Picasso borrowed forms. The question isn’t "Did you make this from scratch?" but "Did you make something that matters?"
I don’t want to perform productivity. I want to engage in communion. This isn’t about content. It’s about contact. About the strange intimacy of thinking in tandem—with a machine, yes, but also with myself. AI collapses the distance between the thinker and the thought, between the impulse and its articulation. The ritual of writing becomes a dance. Less about authorship, more about resonance.
This is not a betrayal of craft. It’s an evolution of intimacy.
And that’s why I say: I don’t want to write. I want to share ideas.
And I’ve never felt more able to do that than I do now.
